Pilchuck Glass School
The Pilchuck Glass School (360/445-3111, www.pilchuck.com) east of Stanwood was begun in 1971 by Dale Chihuly, one of the world masters in the creation of glass sculptures. The school occupies a 64-acre wooded campus where both students and faculty live during their intensive May–September sessions.
Today Pilchuck has 25 teachers and attracts artists from all over the world. Public tours are given only during an early August open house. The school also puts on an immensely popular annual auction, held in Seattle in October.
