The Whidbey Island Naval Air Station (360/279-1080 or http://naswi.ahf.nmci.navy.mil) just outside Oak Harbor is home to electronic warfare squadrons of EA-6B carrier-based jets, EA-6B Prowlers, and EP-3E surveillance planes. Watch planes landing from the CPO Club (open to the public) on Ault Field Road along the north border of the base.

The National Park Service has developed an ecotour driving/biking map for a portion of the base; get a brochure from the Oak Harbor Visitor Center. Be aware that a valid ID is required to get on the base.
