Festivals and Events
Westport’s World Class Crab Races & Feed in mid-April is not a good time to be a crab; the races are followed by a big crab feed. Live music is also featured.
The Blessing of the Fleet, held annually in May, includes a memorial service for people lost at sea and demonstrations of Coast Guard sea-air rescues.
Held in early July, the two-day Kite Festival has contests for the youngest and oldest kite flyers, best crash event, longest train of kites, and more.
Mid-July has the Longboard Classic Surf Festival, attracting top longboard surfers from throughout the Northwest.
In August, an International Nautical Chainsaw Carving Contest (no, it is not done underwater), and the Brady’s Oyster Feed both come early in the month.
A very popular event—it’s been going on for more than 50 years—is the Westport Seafood Festival on Labor Day weekend. Taste salmon, oysters, crab, and all sorts of other fresh-from-the-sea foods, with musical accompaniment.
