Hamma Hamma Road begins two miles north of Eldon and continues to the edge of the Mt. Skokomish Wilderness.

Hamma Hamma Campground (877/444-6777, www.recreation.gov, $10, May–mid-Nov.) is six miles up the road and can accommodate tents and trailers up to 22 feet in length. Continue another two miles to Lena Creek Campground (877/444-6777, www.recreation.gov, $10, year-round), which provides access to miles of hiking.

Lena Lake Campground is a free walk-in campground at this pretty lake, a three-mile trek from the Lena Creek Campground. Expect a compost toilet and no potable water at this fairly primitive site.

Built by the CCC in the 1930s, the historic Hamma Hamma Cabin (360/877-5254, $40) is available for groups up to six. This rustic abode has no running water.

Webb Lookout is a popular high spot, although it offers no Olympic views, just a broad shot of the canal. Take Hamma Hamma Road and turn right on a logging road at about 2.5 miles and follow the signs. Park along the road and hike the half-mile trail to the lookout.
