Big breakfast lovers should make haste to give some meaning to the name at Stuffy’s Restaurant (418 Long Ave., 360/423-6356, 6 a.m.–9 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Sat.–Sun.), which features an extensive menu, friendly family service, and enormous servings.

Or nosh on hearty sandwiches and soups, as well as cold smoothies at Old Creekside Deli (1323 Commerce Ave., 360/423-7225, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Mon.–Fri., 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Sat., closed Sun.). Pick up a book at the Benevolent Bookworm across the street and plunk yourself down at a courtyard table to read.

Henri’s Restaurant (4545 Ocean Beach Hwy., 360/425-7970, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sun.–Thurs., 7 a.m.–10 p.m. Fri.–Sat.) is a popular spot for the “power-lunch” business crowd. Specializing in moderately priced salmon or steak dinners and an impressive wine collection, it’s open weekdays for lunch, Mon.–Sat. for dinner.

Located in—of all places—the bowling alley,
Hilander Restaurant (1509 Allen St., 360/423-1500, 6 a.m.–midnight daily) is a real surprise. This locals’ favorite serves great strawberry waffles and big omelettes for breakfast, a salad bar, homemade soups, and tasty halibut fish and chips.

The Cowlitz Community Farmers Market (7th and Washington, 360/425-1297, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. Tues. and Sat. April–Oct.) has fruit, flowers, fresh vegetables, honey, bedding plants, berries, and more.
