With large rooms, an outdoor pool, hot tub, and continental breakfast, Fidalgo Country Inn (1250 Hwy. 20, 360/293-3494 or 800/244-4179, www.fidalgocountryinn.com, $109 d) is located on the outskirts of town, convenient for those who would like to visit both Anacortes and La Conner. Larger suites with kitchenette, fireplace, and jetted tub are available for $159 d.
Anyone heading out to the San Juans by ferry should consider the homey Ship Harbor Inn (5316 Ferry Terminal Rd., 360/293-5177 or 800/852-8568 (U.S.) or 800/235-8568 (Canada), www.shipharborinn.com), located near the ferry terminal. It is quiet and peaceful, with clean rooms ($109 d), cottages ($129 d) with kitchenettes and fireplaces, and a several hot tub suites ($159–179 d). There’s even a petting zoo with miniature horses, goats, and a donkey. This place is recommended.
