Located in a cluster of six pioneer log buildings, the Orcas Island Historical Museum (North Beach Rd., Eastsound, 360/376-4849, http://orcasmuseum.org, 1–4 p.m. Tues.–Sun. (Fridays till 7 p.m.) late May–Sept., closed the rest of the year, free) has a collection of relics from 1880s pioneer homesteads, Chinese immigrants, and philanthropist Robert Moran. Of particular note are the Native American artifacts that include carvings and baskets.

The small Crow Valley School Museum (three miles southwest of Eastsound on Crow Valley Rd., 360/376-4260, 1–4 p.m. Thurs.–Sat. Memorial Day to Labor Day),. Built in 1888, this classic one-room school has old desks, a great school photo collection, report cards, school clothes, toys, and other pieces from a bygone era. No Internet access here!

The Funhouse (30 Pea Patch Lane 360/376-7177, www.thefunhouse.org, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Sat. and 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Sun. in July and August, 3–6 p.m. Mon.–Fri. and 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Sat. the rest of the year, $5 per person or $20 for a family) is a hands-on science center with more than 50 fun and educational exhibits. The Fun House also has special teens-only evening hours.

The quaint and beautifully situated Emmanuel Episcopal Church faces the water in downtown Eastsound. Built in 1886 and modeled after an English country church, it is also the site for Thursday concerts all summer.
