The 42,280-acre covers the summit of Mt. Adams, along with the entire eastern and northern flanks. The east side of the peak lies within the Yakama Reservation and is termed “Tract D.”

Trails—including the Pacific Crest Trail—provide a semicircular path through the heart of the wilderness. A new backcountry permit system is being discussed for Mt. Adams Wilderness; check with Mt. Adams Ranger District in Trout Lake (509/395-3400) for details.
