Located 53 miles from downtown Seattle, and right along I-90’s Snoqualmie Pass is The Summit at Snoqualmie (425/434-7669, www.summitatsnoqualmie.com, $35–55), Washington’s oldest and largest downhill ski area. The four separate areas, Alpental, Summit West, Summit Central, and Summit East, range from beginner trails to backcountry and advanced slopes.
Snoqualmie’s Summit Nordic Center is a cross-country playground with over 31 miles of groomed and tracked trails, and the weekends-only Summit Tubing Area ($12–17) rents inner tubes and offers lighted rope tows. Summit at Snoqualmie services include ski shops, equipment rentals, ski schools, day lodges, food service, child care, and bus service to the area.
