To reach Mossyrock Park (202 Ajlune Rd., 360/983-3900), turn south at the Mossyrock flashing light and follow the signs three miles east. Here you’ll find walk-in tent sites ($14), RV sites with no hookups ($19) electric-only RV spots ($23), and full RV hookups ($25). Also on the property are picnic tables and boat launches on the green-blue Riffe Lake. The 24-mile-long lake was created in 1968; it was named Riffe Lake to honor the settlement of Riffe, founded in 1898 and now covered by about 225 feet of water.

If you turn north at the Mossyrock light you’ll eventually get to Ike Kinswa State Park (360/983-3402), about three miles off the highway. This 454-acre park is open year-round for trout fishing on Mayfield Lake, with swimming, picnicking, lakeside campsites ($17), and RV sites ($23). Another place for RVs on the road to Ike Kinswa Park, two miles north of the highway, is Harmony Lakeside RV (360/983-3804, $35–49 with hookups).

In addition to its enclosed cabin and condo units, Lake Mayfield Resort (350 Hadlaller Rd. in Silver Creek, 360/985-2357) also offers camping. RV owners can roll in ($28–48), and campers can unfurl their tents onto sites with water ($35) or the primitive sites at the resort’s secluded Adventure Island ($25).

For a little more solitude, Barrier Dam Campground (273 Fuller Rd., 360/985-2495) offers wooded tent ($18) and RV sites with full hookups ($28). The property also has a convenience and tackle store.
