Jarrell Cove State Park (www.parks.wa.gov, tents $17, no RV hookups), along a small cove on the north end of Hartstene Island, has campsites and is open year-round. Get here on land by heading seven miles northeast of Shelton on Highway 3, crossing the bridge to Hartstene Island, and then following the signs another five miles to the park. The 43-acre park is primarily used by boaters and is a fun place to explore in a kayak.
Jarrell’s Cove Marina (E. 220 Wilson Rd., 360/426-8823) rents short-term RV spaces with hookups ($26) May–September. The marina and grocery store are open year-round, but gas is by appointment only during non-summer months.
