Tacoma Art Museum
The Tacoma Art Museum (1701 Pacific Ave., 253/272-4258, www.tacomaartmuseum.org, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Tues.–Wed. and Fri.–Sat., 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thurs., noon–5 p.m. Sun., $5 adults, $4 students and seniors, free under age 6) is best known for its paintings and other pieces from 19th- and 20th-century artists, plus its permanent exhibitions of Dale Chihuly glass.
New exhibits come to the museum almost monthly, and there are frequent lectures and other activities, plus a museum shop with gifts, art books, and jewelry. There is no charge on the third Thursday of the month.
