Bermuda’s Festivals and Events: January to June

In true Bermudian style, the island is awash with events and festivals all year round. Don’t assume this means every event is an excuse for a party; Bermuda is very much about enjoying your here and now whatever it might be. From January to June, here are Bermuda’s tournaments, parades, and cultural celebrations.

Though the summer is generally prime festival season, don’t expect things to slow to a crawl in the latter part of the year. Outdoor sports and competitions continue on year-round, as do many of Bermuda’s heritage events. Here’s the annual line-up from July to December.

Don’t worry if you can’t fathom a “maiden over” or a “googly”—Cup Match is still the very best fun you can have in Bermuda all year. From beaching and boating to al fresco dance parties wrapped in swizzle-infused bonhomie, Cup Match is an authentically Bermudian festival. Make a very long midsummer weekend of Bermuda’s favorite public holiday.

Don’t Miss Cartagena’s Wonderful Winter Festivals

Picture this: mojitos, classical music, Caribbean breezes, and stimulating conversation. This intersection of intellectual and sensual experience is at the center of Cartagena’s two winter cultural festivals: the Cartagena Festival Internacional de Música and the Hay Festival Cartagena.

The Feria de Cali: An Extravaganza for Everyone

The Feria de Cali (December 25-31) is an end of year homecoming festival for Caleños, or Cali natives, the world over, and it has everything a Colombian party should: parades, concerts, and plenty of dancing. While for Caleños the Feria might be about reuniting with family and old friends, for visitors, this is the best time to get to know Cali. The Feria takes over every barrio of this sizzling city of sugarcane and salsa, from the Bohemian San Antonio to chic Granada to the Parque la Loma de la Cruz, and ushers out the year in style.
