What to See in Pelourinho, Salvador’s Colonial Center

Most of Salvador’s most interesting sights are conveniently located in the old colonial center of the Cidade Alta, known as the Pelourinho. Replete with richly adorned churches and convents, its hilly cobblestoned streets also reflect a lot of the vibrancy and color of Bahian life.

Yasuní National Park in the Oriente

Yasuní National Park is one of Ecuador’s last great wildernesses and the country’s largest mainland national park. Untouched by the last ice age, this park is one of the world’s most biodiverse areas, home to 500 species of birds and more than 60 percent of Ecuador’s mammals.
