Raven Theater

Hats off to Healdsburg’s fiercely independent Raven Theater (115 North St., 707/433-5448, www.raventheater.org) for keeping it real in the middle of Wine Country where so many other small towns have long since sold out to the mighty tourist dollar. Believe it or not there are four movie theaters squeezed into this historic building (though a couple are probably the size of the average living room), so there’s usually a combination of mainstream, independent, and documentary films showing 3–5 times every day (admission $9, matinees $5).

There’s also a varied mix of music and comedy, including some big showbiz names every now and then together with theater productions put on by local groups. Check the website for a full calendar.
