A new location of Fiery Ron’s Home Team (2209 Middle St., 843/883-3131, www.hometeambbq.com [1], kitchen open Mon.–Sat. 11 a.m.–11 p.m., Sun. 11:30 a.m.–11 p.m., $8–14) provides the same incredible, melt-in-your-mouth pork and ribs made famous by the original West Ashley location.

For a friendly bite and an adult beverage or two, go straight to Poe’s Tavern (2210 Middle St., 843/883-0083, daily 11 a.m.–2 a.m., kitchen closes 10 p.m.), a nod to Edgar Allan Poe’s stint at nearby Fort Moultrie [2].

Atlanticville (2063 Middle St., 843/883-9452, www.atlanticville.net [3], daily 5:30–10 p.m., Sunday brunch 10 a.m.–2 p.m., $25) is where to go for classic fine dining on Sullivan’s Island [2].

If you just want to pick up some healthy goodies for picnicking on the beach, head to the little Green Heron Grocery (2019 Middle St., 843/883-0751).
