The pace of discovery continues unabated, with this National Geographic headline from northern Guatemala:
"Dramatic" New Maya Temple Found, Covered With Giant Faces [2]
The discovery was announced last week by Brown University archaeologist Stephen Houston; it was at relatively small city called "El Zotz", where other impressive discoveries have been unearthed (or more accurately "un-jungled") since excavations began in 2010. More information in this announcement from Brown University: "El Zotz masks yield insights into Maya beliefs" [3].
