Madryn [1] has an active cultural calendar, starting with the Teatro del Muelle (Rawson 60, tel. 02965/45-7966), which offers theater programs, usually on weekends. The Casa de la Cultura (Roque Sáenz Peña 86, tel. 02965/47-2060) hosts a variety of events.
The Cine Teatro Auditorium (28 de Julio 129, tel. 02965/45-5653) shows current movies and also offers live theater. The Teatro La Escalera (Estivariz and San Martín, tel. 02965/45-7707) is a newer theater company with a good reputation.
For occasional live music and Wi-Fi from next door, try the Margarita Bar (Roque Sáenz Peña 15), which has pub grub (rock-bottom cheap, with a diversity of outstanding midday specials) and costlier drinks. La Oveja Negra (Hipólito Yrigoyen 144) is another popular bar, with live music on weekends and occasional tango during the week.
July 28’s Fundación de la Ciudad celebrates the initial Welsh landing at Punta Cuevas. Festivities continue for several days.
