Though it’s 60–70 kilometers east of RN 40 via either RP 29 or RP 25, Gobernador Gregores (pop. 2,513) can be an essential detour for bikers or motorists running short of gasoline. It’s also the easiest place to obtain other supplies and to hire a car and driver to Parque Nacional Perito Moreno [1], some 200-plus kilometers northwest.
RN 40’s presumed paving and rerouting to Gregores figures to reinvigorate the town as a tourist service center, especially as a base for improved park access.
