Run by Steve and Linda Sullivan, The People’s Gallery (Av. Mar de Cortés Sur 381, tel. 686/577-2898, 10 A.M.–5 P.M. daily), sells the works of local artists, including handmade furniture, jewelry, masks, paintings, and other crafts. The owners also publish the informative San Felipe Newsletter (sfnewsster [at] gmail [dot] com).
For new and used books, try the San Felipe Trading Company (Av. Mar de Cortés, across from the IMSS clinic and a half block north of the Costa Azul, no tel.), or a new bookstore called The New Bookstore (Calzada Chetumal, no tel.), one block west of the Chinese restaurant.
