More than a dozen species of sport fish ply the waters off Cancún [1], including blue and white marlin, blackfin tuna, barracuda, dolphin dorado, wahoo, grouper, and more. Expert anglers can reserve the type and size boat they like and request particular captains.
The boats hold 4–8 people and go out for 4–8 hours; prices average US$450–650 for four hours and US$650–850 for all day. Individual anglers can sign up for “shared” trips for US$110 for four hours or US$125 for six hours. All trips include captain, mates, gear, bait, tackle, drinks, and, in some cases, lunch; the crew will fillet your catch upon return.
Fly-fishing trips can also be arranged, as well as hotel pickup. Reservations required.
