Melding modernity with traditional style in Barrio París-Londres, business-oriented Hotel Fundador (Paseo Serrano 34, tel./fax 02/6322566, www.hotelfundador.cl [1], 140/160 s/d) is one of downtown’s better values.
At Providencia’s Hotel Santiago Park Plaza (Ricardo Lyon 207, tel. 02/3724000, fax 02/2336668, www.parkplaza.cl [2], US$170 s or d), the antique-studded foyer belies the modernity of its wired rooms and recreational facilities, including a glassed-in rooftop pool.
Las Condes’s skyscraping
Marriott Hotel (Av. Kennedy 5741, tel. 02/4262000, fax 02/4262001, www.marriott.cl [3], US$189 s or d) is one of Santiago’s tallest buildings. Reports are highly positive.
Las Condes’s Radisson Plaza Santiago Hotel (Av. Vitacura 2610, tel. 02/2036000, fax 02/3373111, www.radisson.cl [4], US$130–200 s or d) caters primarily to business travelers; each room comes with its own cell phone, for instance, and it occupies part of Santiago’s World Trade Center. There are also, of course, amenities such as a rooftop pool, gymnasium, and Jacuzzis, and views of the Andes to the east.
Opened in 2004, Las Condes’s Plaza El Bosque Park & Suites (Ebro 2828, tel. 02/ 498-1800, www.plazaelbosque.cl [5], US$180 s or d) offers 179 ample contemporary suites with high-speed Internet connections, kitchenettes, and walk-in closets; rates also include a buffet breakfast. Higher buildings obstruct the views from some lower floors, but the 17th-story breakfast room, its adjacent open-air terraces, and the nearby pool provide stupendous panoramas.
