Indigenous women sell their crafts, mainly pottery and textiles, directly to the public at the cooperative Casa de la Mujer Mapuche (Prat 289, tel. 045/233886); profits go directly to members in both cash and educational opportunities. There’s a bigger selection at the Mercado Municipal (Diego Portales and Aldunate), which keeps longer hours but has far more kitsch.
