Much improved, but still lacking interpretive panels, Chile Chico [1]’s museum displays regional painting and sculpture along with paleontological materials, historical artifacts from early colonists, and, connected to the second story by a walkway leading straight to its deck, the restored Los Andes, which once ferried passengers and cargo around the lake.
The Museo de la Casa de la Cultura (O’Higgins and Lautaro, tel. 067/411268, fax 067/411355) is supposedly open 10 a.m.–7 p.m. daily except Sunday, December–March only, but its real hours can be erratic; admission is free.
