Until not so long ago, Villa O’Higgins [1] had only one permanent lodge, the simple but well-kept Hospedaje Patagonia (Río Pascua 191, tel. 067/431818, US$11 pp), opposite the Plaza de Armas, with comfortable beds and a decent breakfast. In summer, it serves lunch and dinner as well.
Hospedaje Carretera Austral (Río Colorado 40, tel. 067/431819, US$11 with breakfast) is a friendly family-run hostelry with good meals, but the walls are a little thin if it’s really crowded.
Run by the former mayor, Hostal Runín (Pasaje Vialidad s/n, tel. 067/431870, hostalrunin [at] yahoo [dot] com, US$15 pp with private bath and breakfast) has comfortable rooms with hot showers and good meals for about US$5–6. When it’s crowded in town, he allows garden camping.
In 2006, Villa O’Higgins [1] had no dedicated restaurants, but one or two were in the works.
