Drag queen brunch: Yes, Perry’s is open for dinner and lunch on other days, but most locals know it for its Sunday experience, a full spread of brunch items and a sassy drag show, held twice during the day at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Reservations are not taken, so patrons begin lining up around 9 a.m. to get a table for one of the shows, which is a blend of comedy, lip-synching, and sexual harassment at its playful best.
The buffet is largely typical buffet fare—eggs and breakfast meats, waffles, salads, seafood, and chicken, with some Asian dishes thrown in (Perry’s primarily is a seafood and sushi place the rest of the week) along with desserts and pastries.
Bring some $1 bills if you’d like to be a part of the comedic action; most people tip the queens regardless. Every other day of the week, Perry’s boasts the largest open-air dining room in the neighborhood.
