One of the most innovative and interesting venues in Beijing, the Apothecary is a world away from the identikit bars of Houhai or the commercial clubs elsewhere in Sanlitun.

Designed as a molecular cocktail bar with New Orleans-style bar food, Apothecary has award-winning chef Max Levy in the kitchen and Beijing’s best mixologists creating the drinks. Simple decor allows the flavors to speak for themselves.

The whiskey cocktails are especially good, and a good value for Beijing. Apothecary only takes bookings before 9 p.m., so be prepared not to get a table if you turn up later on Friday or Saturday night.
