Art lover and historian Yang Pei Ming has spent the past 15 years collecting anti-Capitalist, pro-Cuba, Maoist, and Communist propaganda posters. He displays his favorite pieces from his 5,000-strong collection in the basement of a residential complex on Huashan Road.
For anyone interested in how art shaped China’s contemporary history, this collection is a must. The highly stylized illustrations in bold colors bear witness to an era when art was bestowed with an unusual power to persuade and convince.
If you like what you see and want to take home a souvenir, have a browse in the gift shop for posters and knick-knacks.
