The Grand Hyatt [1]’s Cloud 9 bar is a chic space nestled inside the crown of the lofty Jin Mao Tower [2] on the 87th floor. It’s considered one of the world’s greatest gathering places by Newsweek and is the original “view bar” in Shanghai.
There’s a minimum cost to spend of ¥120 to keep things (kind of) exclusive, but the atmosphere is more casual than stuffy. Ask for a west-facing table for that iconic view of the glittering lights below, or sit facing southeast to admire the Shanghai World Financial Center [3] next door.
The drinks menu spans champagnes, sparkling wines, spirits, cocktails, and beers and is not surprisingly pricey. Cloud 9 attracts a variety of clientele, from curious tourists to businesspeople impressing clients and couples on dates.
