The road continues to Pomata, 104 kilometers from Puno [1] and the crossroads for the roads to Desaguadero and Copacabana. The town’s 18th-century church, Santiago Apóstol de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, is built of pink granite with a huge gold-covered altar and paintings from the Cusco School. Toward Desaguadero there is another fine colonial church, San Pedro, in the town of Zepita.
