This pleasant country town has a 17th-century molino, or flour mill (8 km southeast of Arequipa [1], 9 a.m.–6 p.m. daily, US$3), which still turns with the force of water.
The hamlet of Paucarpata, surrounded by Collagua terracing, is a favorite weekend lunch spot with locals and is a bit farther down the road.
Combis head frequently to Sabandía from Jorge Chávez and Victor Lira (US$1), or a taxi charges around US$5 for the 15-minute trip.
