Bars come and go in Máncora [1] and many are closed during low season. But Barracuda Bar (Piura 269, 6 p.m.–close daily, except during off-season when the bar closes an unspecified night of the week, US$2–4) is a reliable bet. Before 10:30 p.m., the low light, twinkling candles, and sofas lend themselves to a drink and appetizer. But later, as the pisco, gin, and scotch make their mark, the crowds become more animated.
Iguana’s Place (Piura 245, 6 p.m.–close daily), a few doors south, turns up its pop music, and invites more of a party scene.
La Palma (Piura just south of 318, 9 p.m.–close daily) is Máncora [1]’s only official discotheque, but during low season it’s open only sporadically.
