Tepic [1] has two main plazas and two main highways. If you’re only passing through, stay on the libramiento Highway 15 throughway, which efficiently conducts traffic around the city-center congestion. An interchange at the south edge of town distributes Highway 200 traffic approaching from Puerto Vallarta [2] three ways: east (to libramiento Highway 15 toward Guadalajara); north (to libramiento Highway 15 toward San Blas [3], Mazatlán, and the United States), or downtown along Boulevard Xalisco. Just past the libramiento’s north end, an overpass directs traffic either west to Miramar–Santa Cruz and San Blas via Nayarit Highway 76 or north along Highway 15.
Avenida México, Tepic’s main north–south downtown street, angles from Boulevard Xalisco just south of big Parque La Loma. A few blocks farther north, it crosses Avenida Insurgentes and continues downtown past the two main plazas: first Plaza Constituyentes, and then Plaza Principal, about a half mile farther north.
