Kabah ruins (8 a.m.–5 p.m., US$3) are located 22 kilometers (14 miles) southeast of Uxmal [1], on the other side of the small town of Santa Elena [2].
Kabah’s major temples were constructed in A.D. 850–900, though the area was probably first settled as far back as 300 B.C.– A.D. 250. The site spans many square kilometers, though only the ceremonial center has been cleared and restored, and no major archaeological excavation has been conducted here.
The highway cuts right through the ancient city, so there are ruins on either side. The main points of interest are on the east side of the road, where the ticket booth is.
