Facing the central plaza, Hotel Plaza (Calle 23 between Calles 26 and 26-A, tel. 997/972-0484, www.hotelplazayucatan.com [1], US$30 s, US$35.50 d) is a good choice with spotless, simple, tile-floor rooms that open onto an interior courtyard. Beds are decent and have bright bedspreads that liven up the somewhat characterless rooms. All units have air-conditioning, cable TV, and in-room telephone. Plus, there’s private parking.
Across from the main church, Hotel San Antonio (Calle 25-A between Calles 26 and 26-A, tel. 997/972-1893, www.hotelsan-antonio.com [2], US$22 s with a/c, US$27–30 d with a/c) offers bright rooms with balconies, cable TV, in-room phones, and aging air-conditioners (definitely check the decibel level of the air-conditioning before you settle into a room). Units above the entrance to the hotel have king-size beds and good views of the central plaza. Off-street parking is available and there’s a good, inexpensive restaurant on-site too.
