Campeche [1]’s bars and clubs are open Thursday– Saturday; other days, there’s really not much going on. Cover is rarely more than US$5, and often free.
Longtime favorites for locals and travelers alike include JAXX (Av. Resurgimiento, near El Faro del Moro restaurant) and, believe it or not, Lafitte’s, (Av. Ruiz Cortinez No. 51) the pirate-theme restaurant at the Hotel del Mar that turns into a nightclub.
You can also do some dancing at La Jungla (behind Plaza Campeche hotel), which has two dance floors—one for techno, the other for salsa and cumbia.
For a more mellow scene, head to Rum (Av. Ruíz Cortines) a new hipster bar on the inland side of the malecón, six blocks from the center.
