Located 20 minutes from Campeche City on the road to Edzná, Hacienda Uayamón (Carretera a Edzná Km. 20, tel. 981/829-7527, www.thehaciendas.com [1], US$500 s/d with a/c, US$600 suite) is a sister hotel of Hacienda Puerta Campeche. The hacienda was built in 1700 and has 12 freestanding units, each with deluxe furnishing and amenities, including thick beds, large bathrooms, high ceilings, and private terrace. The grounds are gorgeous, and several unused buildings have been left in a state of semi-disrepair to create a more authentic ambience. The pool is ensconced within the two remaining walls of the once-elegant ballroom; the dining room’s large picture window looks out over former henequen fields. The restaurant (7 a.m.–10 p.m. daily, US$10–30) specializes in seafood. Reservations required for non-guests.
