Oaxaca is well known for its fine metal crafts. A few families produce nearly everything, which at least three of them sell from their own shops.
While in Mercado Juárez [1], stop by stall number 5 to see the fine swords, knives, and scissors of Miguel Martínez and family (tel. 951/514-4868, 9 a.m.–9 p.m. daily).
Walk a few blocks west and south to see an even wider selection, plus artisans at work, at Guillermo Aragon’s street-front shop (J. P. Garcia 503, tel. 951/516-2658, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. and 4–8 p.m. Mon.–Sat.).
