Playa Principal’s 400 yards of wide golden sand decorate most of Puerto Ángel [1]’s bayfront. Waves can be strong near the pier, where they often surge vigorously onto the beach and recede with a sometimes strong undertow. The clear waters are good for casual snorkeling around the rocks, on both sides of the bay. Swimming is always more tranquil at the sheltered west end toward Playa Panteón.
Sheltered Playa Panteón (Cemetery Beach) is Puerto Ángel [1]’s sunning beach, lined with squadrons of beach chairs and umbrellas in front of beachside restaurants. Playa Oso (Bear Beach) is a little dab of sand beside a rugged seastack of rock beyond Playa Panteón [2], fun to swim to from Playa Panteón [2].
