If you’re planning on playing lots of tennis, best stay at one of the Tangolunda luxury resorts, such as the Barceló or the Las Brisas. Otherwise, the Tangolunda Golf Course (tel. 958/581-0037, fax 958/581-0059) rents tennis courts for about $7/hour. The tennis courts are next to the clubhouse on the knoll at the east side of the golf course.
The breezy green Tangolunda Golf Course (tel. 958/581-0037, fax 958/581-0059), designed by the late architect Mario Chegnan Danto, stretches for 6,851 yards down Tangolunda Valley to the bay. The course starts from a low building complex (watch for bridge entrance) off the Highway 200–Tangolunda highway across from the sanitary plant. Greens fee runs about $80 for 18 holes, $64 for 9 holes, cart $35, club rental $17, caddy $25.
The luxury Xquenda (sh-QUEN-dah, “soul” in Zapotec, tel. 958/583-4448 or 958/583-4449, xquenda [at] huatulcospa [dot] com, www.huatulcospa.com [1], 9 a.m.–6 p.m. daily) spa and athletic club, in Chahue, west side, on the Santa Cruz-Tangolunda road, offers tennis, paddle tennis, and a lap swimming pool. Spa services include massage, facials, temazcal ceremonial hot room, and more.
