Puerto Escondido [1]’s bayfront begins at the sheltered rocky cove beneath the wave-washed lighthouse point, Punta Escondida. The shoreline continues easterly along Playa Principal [2], the main beach, curving southward at Playa Marinero [3], and finally straightening into long open-ocean Playa Zicatela [4].
The sand and surf change drastically, from narrow sand and calm ripples at Playa Principal to a wide beach pounded by gigantic rollers at Zicatela.
