Juquila’s [1] probable best-bet hotel is the Hotel del Carmen (Antonio Valdez s/n, tel./fax 954/524-0004, $32 s or d, $40 d or t), at the town center. With an entrance driveway leading to a big rear parking lot, this is an especially convenient option for drivers in congested Juquila. The approximately 40 rooms are clean and mostly semi-deluxe, with hot-water shower-baths, TV, good (seasonal only) restaurant, and parking. Some rooms are better than others. Check the mattress before moving in.
Other cheaper options are available around the plaza half a block uphill. The best of these is probably the homey, family-run Posada los Ángeles (Calle Benito Juárez 2, Barrio Grande, tel. 954/524-0073, $27 s or d with one bed, $28 d, $35 t with two beds), at the plaza’s southeast corner. The approximately 20 rooms are clean, simply furnished, and well-maintained, with shaded (as opposed to bare-bulb) lamps. Rooms vary; if possible, get one with a balcony, plaza-front view.
If Posada los Ángeles is full, try the Hotel Juquila Plaza (Av. Revolución 4, tel. 954/524-0066, $25 s or d, $34 t), on the plaza, right in front of the church. Rooms, although clean enough, aren’t as thoughtfully furnished or as well-maintained as the Posada del Ángel. Some, however, have plaza-front views. All rooms have hot-water shower-baths and parking.
If the rush of pilgrims has filled all the above accommodations, you can try others downtown, among them the Hotel San Nicolas (Calle Antonio Valdes s/n, tel. 954/524-0120, $32 s or d), and the Hotel La Conchita (Calle Hidalgo s/n, tel. 954/524-0015, $25 s or d in one bed, $37 d in two beds), below and behind (southwest of) the church.
