Yup, that huge thing on the rise that looks like a missile silo really is a winery. Opus One (7900 Hwy. 29, Oakville, 707/948-2426, www.opusonewinery.com [1], daily 10 a.m.–4 p.m.) boasts a reputation as one of the most prestigious, and definitely one of the most expensive vintners in Napa [2].

The echoing halls inside the facility add to the grandeur of the place, as does the price of a tasting ($25 for a three-ounce pour of a single wine). You’re unlikely to find a bottle of Opus One for under $250.
