The Carneros [1] region might be described as the “lost” area of Wine Country [2]. Though the wines are spectacular, the wineries are a bit more spread out than in the Napa [3] and Russian River Valleys [4], and fewer visitors cram into the tasting rooms every weekend.
And yet some prestigious California names make their homes here, and some small boutique vintners quietly produce amazing varietals you won’t find anywhere outside their tasting rooms.
If you come to Carneros [1] on a weekday, you might be the only person in a few of the tasting rooms, able to chat in depth with the staff about each wine you taste!
