The Sonoma Carneros [1] region has perfect conditions for champagne-making grapes, and so the glorious Domaine Carneros (1240 Duhig Rd., Napa, 800/716-2788, www.domaine.com [2], daily 10 a.m.–6 p.m.) makes its estate home here. Visitors rarely fail to be impressed by the grand estate structure, styled in both architecture and garden setting like the great chateaux of France.
Even more impressive are the finely crafted sparkling wines (Domaine Carneros prefers not to use the term “champagne”) and few still Pinot Noirs the winery creates using grapes from the Carneros [1] region.
