The Sebastiani family has owned and operated Sebastiani Vineyards and Winery (389 Fourth St. E., Sonoma, 707/933-3230, www.sebastiani.com [1], daily 10 a.m.–5 p.m.) since 1904, making it the winery in longest continuous operation in Sonoma County. When visiting the cavernous tasting room and hospitality center, you’ll get to taste from the huge portfolio of Sebastiani wines, which are meticulously crafted from grapes grown in different parts of Sonoma County.
Sebastiani prides itself on the care with which the vineyard managers and growers select the right grapes to grow in the right parts of the diverse Sonoma [2] region. This care shows in the wines, which you’ll also find on menus around California.
While you’re at the winery, be sure to check out the sizeable gift shop, the famous carved casks, and the retail kitchen and wine specialty marketplace.
Or take one of two tours (Thurs., Fri., Sat., 2 p.m., $7.50/person, 1 hour): a historical walking tour of the Sebastiani estate or an open-air trolley tour through historic Sonoma and three of Sebastiani’s local vineyards.
