Not every inch of ground in Sonoma County grows grapevines or houses inns and restaurants. One huge plot of invaluable dirt has long been given over to the Infineon Raceway (29355 Arnold Dr., Sonoma, 800/870-7223, www.infineonraceway.com [1]).
This massive motor sports complex hosts almost every sort of vehicular race there is. With several NASCAR events each year, various AMA motorcycle races, an Indy car race, and of course an NHRA drag race, Infineon sees more action than many of the country’s most popular racetracks.
It has events scheduled literally 340 days per year, though many of these run to local track days and small-time club races. Ticket prices vary hugely, so check the website to learn the cost of your favorite event.
Even if you’re not planning on attending an event at Infineon, it’s still a good idea to check out the scheduled events so you can try to avoid the post-event traffic [2].
