With the youthful snowboarding crowd packing the Tahoe lodgings [1] in the winter and the wakeboarders in the summertime, it’s no surprise that some noticeable nightlife crops up around the lake. For the obvious reasons, the favorite clubs tend to be inside the Stateline casino resorts [2]. Often you’ll find that the hip dancing crew spills out of the clubs and onto the casino floor throughout the evening.
Many locals’ favorite nightclub is Vex at Harrah’s (15 Hwy. 50, Stateline, NV, 775/586-6705, Thurs.–Sat. 10 p.m.–close). This swank late-night watering hole features girls, girls, girls as the entertainment, the staff, and the clientele—every Friday night is “Ladies Night” (free cover for female guests).
Whether the entertainment is a high-flying aerial act or just the Vex Girls dancing on the upper walkways, both locals and visitors alike have a great time here. You can shake it on the dance floor, sip a cocktail at the bar, or if you’ve got the money, get waited upon by the lovely cocktail staff in a posh VIP booth.
Even though The Opal Ultra Lounge at MontBleu (55 Hwy. 50, Stateline, NV, 775/586-2000, Wed.–Sun. 8 p.m.–close, cover varies) is technically in Nevada, you’ll find a serious California-style fusion of cuisine and nightlife. The idea is for club-goers to start out with a nice sushi dinner, then move seamlessly into cocktails and the lounge scene.
Each evening includes different featured entertainment—just don’t mix up Wednesday night’s lingerie party with Thursday’s VIP professional mixer! Live drumming spices up Friday night, and “exotic” belly and fire dancers make Saturday intensely sexy.
