For a high-class evening of classical music in the mountains, check out a performance of Chamber Music Unbound (760/934-7015, www.chambermusicunbound.org [1]). This nonprofit orchestra performs at several locations in Bishop and Mammoth Lakes [2], creating unique (often humorous and fun) concerts from familiar and out-of-the-way classical pieces.
With titles like Bass-Ic Instinct and Sense and Sensuality, CMU concerts may sound like adult fare, but in fact they are family-oriented shows geared for all ages and genteel musical tastes. At Christmas you might catch a performance of the classic Nutcracker, and in the spring an uplifting vocalist show.
