The University of California at Santa Cruz (Bay St., 831/459-0111, www.ucsc.edu [1]) might be the single most beautiful college campus in the country. Set up in the hills above downtown Santa Cruz [2], the classrooms and dorms sit underneath groves of coast redwood trees, amongst tangles of ferns and vines and cute woodland creatures.
Call 831/459-4118 for a tour of the campus (groups of six or more, reservations required). Or just find a parking lot and wander out into the woods like the students do, looking for a perfect circle of trees to sit and meditate within.
